Here are some common repair and maintenance services we provide for our Duramax owners cutomer:

Fuel Injector Replacement or Cleaning

• Early Duramax models (particularly LB7) are prone to injector issues. Symptoms include rough idle, excessive smoke, or reduced fuel efficiency.
• Regular maintenance, cleaning, and timely replacement of injectors can help avoid damage to the engine and fuel system.

Head Gasket Replacement

• Although it’s not as frequent as in some other diesel engines, blown head gaskets can still occur, especially in higher-mileage Duramax trucks or when pushing higher horsepower/torque.
• Common signs: coolant loss, overheating, and exhaust gas in the coolant.

Turbocharger Repair or Replacement

• Excessive play in the turbo shaft, oil leaks, or underboost/overboost codes can signify turbo problems.
• Routine inspection (checking for shaft play, oil contamination) can help catch issues early.

Glow Plug Replacement

• Duramax trucks rely on glow plugs for cold-weather starts, and they can fail over time.
• A failing glow plug can cause hard starts or contribute to engine misfires in cold weather.

High-Pressure Fuel Pump (CP3/CP4) Service

• Depending on the Duramax generation (later models use CP4 pumps which can be prone to failure and internal metal contamination).
• Upgrading or servicing the high-pressure fuel pump is important for reliability, especially if you run higher performance tunes.

Water Pump Replacement

• Coolant leaks from weep holes or overheating can indicate a failing water pump.
• Duramax trucks can accumulate high mileage, so expect to replace the water pump at least once over the life of the engine.

Front-End Suspension and Steering Repairs

• Heavy diesel engines place extra stress on front-end components. Steering linkages, tie rods, and idler/pitman arms often need servicing.
• Worn front-end parts can cause shaking, uneven tire wear, and drifting.

Transmission Service or Rebuild (Allison Transmission)

DEF and Emissions System Repairs (Newer Models)

• Trucks with newer emissions systems have Diesel Exhaust Fluid (DEF) components, DPF filters, and sensors that can fail or clog.
• Proper diesel fuel quality, DEF fluid usage, and timely DPF regeneration are crucial for keeping the system healthy.

Regular Fluid and Filter Changes

• Engine oil and filter changes are vital to protect the turbo and valve train.
• Fuel filter changes (including monitoring for water) are also essential.
• Transmission fluid, differential fluid, and transfer case fluid should be replaced per the recommended intervals.

Electrical and Sensor Issues

• Common troubleshooting areas include the mass airflow sensor (MAF), MAP sensor, or wheel speed sensors.
• Electronic malfunctions can affect fuel efficiency, transmission shifting, and emissions systems.
